While I was not at all suprised by the quality of Michael Ingersoll's concert in Three Oaks, MI on Monday night, February 16, I was delighted by the range of songs and talent he showed. Very different from his outstanding performance as Nick Massi. The variety of songs, the humor, the personality that came through this performance simply proves what a talent Michael is -- and what a gem we have in the Chicago cast.
But the promise of "surprise guests" was not only met but exceeded by the presence of so many Jersey Boys cast members including Cory Grant, John Michael Diaz, Stephen Goldsmith, Shonn Wiley, Bryan McElroy, Craig Laurie (and a few more I've probably missed). Stephen, Shonn, Bryan, and Michael performed a couple of great songs with some excellent harmony -- wow, can Stephen step up (and I love him when he gets the rare chance to do the Frankie Valli role). And what a setting as all of the cast was willing to chat during the intermission and for a lengthy period after the show. Can't end this without adding that Michael's wife was another amazing addition to the performance -- what a performer, what a voice, and I'll leave it at that because I don't want Michael to get mad at me.
The Chicago area is truly blessed with this extraordinary opportunity and the fantastic show of support from all the key members of the Chicago cast. What a treat -- for me it was a three plus hour drive -- well worth it and I'll be watching closely for the next opportunity to see Michael's show.
